"I went through the bookstore Barnes and Noble in the Jesus section... and I tried to think about if I was an alien from another planet and I was trying to figure out what is it that these people who follow Jesus believe the most... I think I would think the most important thing for Christians was to be effective, to find purpose.
But I think the most important thing that God is asking us is "Will you be faithful?"
He didn't say He was going to come back for an effective bride, and you better have a whole bunch of work done when I get back, you better have a factory full of products that you've produced. He just said,
"When I come back, will you look pretty for me?"

Hi, Jen.
I heard Seth preach this message, but I forgot that he said this. Thanks for posting it.

This is the exact conclusion I came to my first year in Dunaujvaros, HU. I had visions of students flocking to my home for deep spiritual conversations, bible studies, maybe a church started. Ha! Ha! Ha!
Then I read Oswald Chambers about mid-year. A rough summary is, "When God brings us to a new place it is not what He wants to accomplish through us that is so important but what He wants to do IN us." SO true.
I still experience this almost 8 years later. I am a stay-at-home mom of 2, living in Germany with my Hungarian husband because this is the refining fire that was perfectly selected for me by a loving heavenly Father who desires that I look, "pretty for Him" when he returns. blessings, Deb
