One curious detail of life in Lithuania is that many bathrooms do not have handsinks. Instead, they figure you can make due with the spigot in the bathtub, right? My bathroom falls into this category, which means that to wash your hands or brush your teeth, you have to go into the kitchen. After the first couple times of that back in August, I adapted to the custom of washing my hands and brushing my teeth using the bathtub faucet.
One great drawback of this system that must be mentioned, though, is that, should one forget to close the valve that leads to the shower head, upon turning on the water to brush your teeth, you might end up with shower, part 2. This morning, I had just such an experience, even despite the fact that I had closed the shower valve. I bent over to brush my teeth (a full body bend is required to spit in a tub), and a huge stream of water dribbled over my just-fixed hair.
This is nothing revelatory or soul-searching. Just a little insight into my ordinary life in Klaipeda. :)
