So, we were playing Catch Phrase this evening, with several lovely friends, Feruza, Maja and Suzanna, as well as Mindelynn - Sarah's friend visitng from the States this week. Here's how it went down:
Suzanna - "The island nation in Northern Europe, made up of three countries!"
Sarah - "The Baltics!"
Feruza - "The UK!"
Suzanna - "Yes! But another word!"
Sarah - "Great Britian!"
Suzanna - "Yes! But, the adjective form!"
Feruza - "British!"
Sarah - "Brittany!!"
(Buzzer goes off, laughter, everyone exclaiming, "Brittany?! Sarah??!!")
Jen - "Brittany is in France!"
Feruza - "No, she's in rehab"
Mindelynn - "It's true, I heard it on the news this morning."

That's hilarious!
I was Britney-news-free for 12 days and LOVED it. I'm almost sad to get back into pop news. But not sad enough to actually avoid it. By the way, what happened to Anna Nicole? She dies, and 10 days later I can't get any of the news about it! I'm so glad that she's not around to find out how little attention her death is receiving, considering how she spent her whole life begging for the spotlight.
Sorry to mess up your blog with blathering about Anna Nicole. I'll stop now.
except i said Britain:)
Oh, sorry to disappoint Annie, but watching my daily CNN while on the treadmill this morning it was All Anna Nicole, All The Time. There is currently a trial involving her lawyer (who claims to be the father of her baby and wants her buried in the Bahamas, next to her son), her ex-boyfriend (who also claims to be the father of her baby and God knows where he wants her buried--I think he just wants the body for a DNA test), and her mother, who apparently was estranged from her for years but wants her buried in Texas. I think the poor judge can't even figure it out--he scratches his head quite a lot--and it is sort of a parade of Kato Kaelin-like figures; the perfect default for CNN apparently.
Now you're in the know like a true hapless American!

My problem is relying on limited internet news sites. After I wrote that comment I realized I hadn't been watching TV. And then I verged off my normal internet trail and found a whole web of sites about the trial. I stand VERY corrected and a little disappointed. I would have been happy if the newsmedia could find something more interesting than the death of a former Playboy bunny to fixate on... [sigh]
Sorry Jen, "...on which to fixate." :)
Good luck with the holiday planning.
Excellent. First time I laughed all weekend.
